OpenAI Releases GPT-6.1 Terra, Halving the Price of Its Mid-Tier Agent Model
OpenAI has released GPT-6.1 Terra, a mid-tier model aimed at agentic workflows, computer use and everyday coding. API pricing is half that of GPT-5.6 Terra: $1 per million input tokens against $2, and $6 per million output tokens against $12.
OpenAI says the model finishes tasks more than three times faster than Astra and GPT-6.1 Sol. On Agents Last Exam it beats GPT-5.6 Terra clearly and, per OpenAI, comes close to GPT-6 Astra while a token costs roughly ten times less.
GPT-6.1 Terra is available in ChatGPT Work, in Codex and through the API as gpt-6.1-terra, with the ChatGPT rollout going to Plus, Pro, Enterprise and Edu users.
