OpenAI Rolls Out GPT-6 with Intelligent UI to ChatGPT
OpenAI has started a global rollout of GPT-6 in ChatGPT, headlined by a new capability called Intelligent UI that lets the model build an interactive interface for each answer instead of returning a wall of text. Paid tiers gained access on October 7 in the Chat tab, with Free and Go following the next day, and OpenAI puts the weekly ChatGPT audience at more than 1.2 billion people.
- What it generates: diagrams, charts, tappable buttons, forms, and small tools such as a bill splitter, a savings calculator, or a playable retro game, all inside the conversation. A simple text answer remains an option when that fits best.
- How it renders: OpenAI built a library of native, streamable components plus a compiler that processes the interface as the model generates it, so the UI appears progressively rather than waiting for the full response.
- Faster answers: GPT-6 interleaves reasoning with generation and delivers partial results as it works. On web-search questions, GPT-6 Instant begins answering 44% sooner on average than GPT-5.6 Instant, and internal testing puts GPT-6 Extra High’s time to first answer at the level of GPT-5.6 Medium while scoring higher than GPT-5.6 Extra High.
- Model mapping and scope: GPT-6 Sol serves Plus, Pro, Business, and Enterprise, while GPT-6 Luna serves Free and Go. The models behind Work and Codex are unchanged in this release, and OpenAI published a system card covering safety training against cyberattack, biological, and violence misuse.
