Trump's Super Intelligence Rebrand Sparks Rush for Slovenian .si Domains
President Trump’s announcement at the UN General Assembly that the United States will call artificial intelligence super intelligence (SI) has triggered an unexpected run on Slovenian .si domains. Registrar Register.si is registering about 3,700 new .si addresses per day, compared with roughly 3,500 for all of August; the zone passed 220,000 domains by 29 September, and the registrar has urged owners of trademarks, slogans, and company names without a .si address to register one quickly. Who is buying the domains, and at what price, is not yet known.
On the same day, Trump signed the executive order Inaugurating the Era of Super Intelligence, which directs federal agencies to write “Super Intelligence” and “SI” instead of “Artificial Intelligence” and “AI” in official correspondence, public statements, websites, and reports, except legislative documents. The new term legally covers the same technologies as the AI definition in 15 U.S.C. § 9401, so existing statutes do not change yet. Within 60 days, the presidential assistant for science and technology must propose a bill establishing a federal definition of super intelligence that could broaden or replace the current one.
