Anthropic has published an Economic Scenario Explorer, an interactive model that projects how AI could reshape the US economy by 2030. The tool lets users adjust AI capability levels, autonomy, and adoption speed to see corresponding economic outcomes.

The model presents three scenarios: a moderate case with GDP ~1.6% higher than baseline by 2030, a substantial case at +8.3% with near-stagnant knowledge-worker wages, and an extreme case at +32.4% GDP where growth reaches 15% annually but knowledge-worker salaries drop over 10%. In the extreme scenario, AI handles nearly all intellectual work autonomously without proportional new tasks emerging for humans, and labor’s share of income falls from ~60% to 45.2%.

Results depend on AI capabilities, adoption speed, and how quickly workers transition to new roles.
