Director Neill Blomkamp (District 9) has released Nightborne, a 13-minute sci-fi horror short film created entirely using the Seedance 2.0 video generation model, styled as a documentary about a military programme reviving fallen soldiers. Blomkamp directed frame-by-frame through prompts based on concept art, with the studio licensing biometric data from 32 individuals for faces and voice to avoid copyright issues. The filmmaker has announced plans for a full-length AI feature and opened a new studio, Barley Studios, focused on neural-network production to replace his classical Oats Studios.
