Alibaba to Open Source SAIL — Its CUDA Alternative for Zhenwu AI Accelerators
Alibaba’s semiconductor arm T-Head has announced it will open source the SAIL software stack for its proprietary Zhenwu AI accelerators, positioning it as an open alternative to Nvidia’s CUDA ecosystem. Announced at the World AI Conference, T-Head claims SAIL can be adapted to popular ML frameworks in under 7 days. The flagship Zhenwu M890 processor, unveiled in May and designed for AI agent workloads, has already shipped over 560,000 units to hundreds of enterprise customers.
