Microsoft Relaunches Copilot as a Unified App with Paid Agent Features
Microsoft is preparing a major Copilot overhaul in August, merging its consumer and enterprise versions into a single unified application. The update introduces AutoPilot—background agents for automating routine tasks—alongside new code-generation tools, all behind a paywall. The company is shutting down experimental features like Copilot Podcasts and Labs as it shifts focus from showcasing AI capabilities to solving practical problems. According to an internal memo from a Microsoft VP, the revamped Copilot still needs to “earn its right to exist.”
