SpaceX has shown investors a prototype smartphone powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor with deep system-level integration of xAI’s models. The device runs on its own custom operating system — a strategic move to bypass Apple’s and Google’s mobile ecosystems entirely.

The core ambition is to launch a WeChat-style superapp that consolidates messaging, payments, and AI services under one roof. By controlling the OS directly, Musk would own the full distribution and monetization pipeline for xAI’s mobile products. The project remains in early-stage development.
