Pax Silica Alliance Expands to 24 Countries
The European Union, Germany, the Netherlands, and Greece have joined the US-led Pax Silica initiative aimed at securing global AI supply chains. With Kazakhstan, Argentina, Chile, Costa Rica, and Panama also expected to join, the coalition will reach 24 member countries. The initiative covers rare earth mining, chip manufacturing, and energy infrastructure, with one of its first steps being the creation of an economic security zone in Kazakhstan for stable extraction of minerals essential to AI hardware. The alliance was formed by the United States amid intensifying technological competition with China.
