Microsoft Introduces Autopilots — Always-On AI Agents, Starting with Scout
Microsoft has unveiled Autopilots, a new category of always-on AI agents with their own identity that work persistently in the background on behalf of the user. The first entry is Scout, a personal assistant built on OpenClaw that integrates with Microsoft 365 apps to handle tasks like calendar management, expense reporting, and email drafting — it is now available in preview for Frontier program customers in the United States. Alongside Scout, Microsoft announced Microsoft IQ, a context layer for agents comprising Work IQ, Fabric IQ, and Web IQ, which will roll out across GitHub Copilot, Foundry, and Copilot Studio.
