YouTube is rolling out mandatory automatic labeling for AI-generated content—if a creator hasn’t self-disclosed synthetic media, YouTube’s detection algorithms will add a warning label on their behalf. The labels become hard-linked and non-removable for media carrying C2PA standard metadata and for videos produced with Google’s own Veo and Dream Screen tools. Labels appear below the player on long-form videos and overlaid on Shorts, and YouTube states they will not affect monetization or recommendation ranking. False positives can be contested through YouTube Studio.

Additionally, YouTube is making its Likeness Detection tool publicly available to help creators over 18 find unauthorized deepfakes of themselves on the platform.
