On May 20, Wuhan Tech Park hosted the unveiling of Shiguang S1, billed as China’s first humanoid robot designed for family life. Developed by Hubei Jijia Shijie Robotics in collaboration with the Hubei Humanoid Robot Alliance, the robot can fold clothes, cook, clear tables, hold conversations, and learn new skills over time.

Unlike industrial robots that execute pre-programmed routines, Shiguang S1 relies on an in-house embodied intelligence model that independently breaks down tasks and plans action sequences. The company has launched a test-drive program for Wuhan families, though pricing, batch size, and mass-production dates remain unannounced. A larger model — GigaBrain 1 — is slated for Q3 2026, promising advances in data analysis, task generalization, and in-home movement precision.
